Michael Girard is a Senior Director in Fitch Ratings’ Structured Finance – ABS Group, where he leads the North American auto ABS sector with responsibility for new issuance ratings, transaction surveillance, and analytical coverage across auto loan and lease, fleet lease, dealer floorplan, and rental car ABS. He joined Fitch in 2020, initially covering aviation, auto, and credit card ABS, and is based in Toronto, Canada.

Prior to Fitch, Michael held credit risk roles spanning fixed income and counterparty risk at the Canada Life Assurance Company and the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan. He is a CFA charterholder and earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree, with a specialization in finance and economics from the University of Toronto.
