Michael Williams is the Vice President of Consumer Lending at American First Credit Union (AFCU). He has over 20 years of experience and knowledge of Consumer Lending and Indirect Lending that he extends into supporting AFCU in areas of operations – Loan Committee, Pricing Committee, Risk Committee and Compliance Committee. In addition to leading all divisions of Consumer and Indirect Lending, Michael also serves in the capacity of VP of Branch Operations and Member Experience.   

Under his leadership, Michael cultivates staff to meet and surpass assigned goals, thus allowing AFCU to consistently achieve AFCU Consumer Lending Volume records year over year for the last 5 years coupled with record lows in delinquency as well. Fostering teamwork and instilling the drive to achieve goals is at his core. This has been built upon over the past 2 decades at each Dealership and Financial institutions such as: Unify FCU, Schools FCU, Fireside Bank, Onyx Acceptance, Stevens Creek Credit Max & Auto Center, and Boardwalk Auto Center in which he was employed. The foundational base for these characteristics were developed as a student-athlete at University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) as a Defensive Back of the football team (’89 – ’92) and reinforced as a professional athlete in the National Football League (NFL): Defensive Back – San Diego Chargers and San Francisco 49ers.

Michael joined AFCU in 2014 as Director of Consumer Lending and quickly proved that hard work pays off being promoted three times. Promotions from Director to AVP of Consumer Lending to VP of Consumer Lending and finally to the position he now currently presides in the role of Vice President of Consumer Lending and Branch Operations / Member Experience.
