ThunderRoad, FreedomRoad execs to discuss data management at PowerSports Finance Summit 2024
The Auto Finance News team is pleased to announce that executives from ThunderRoad Financial and FreedomRoad Financial will join the PowerSports Finance Summit 2024 for a best practices panel discussion on risk and data management for better credit performance.
The ninth annual PowerSports Finance Summit will return Oct. 9-10 at Wynn Las Vegas. Designed for professionals in the powersports lending and leasing sectors, the summit explores critical discussions around the latest industry trends, market insights and forward-looking strategies.

The best practices panel is scheduled for 11:45 a.m. on Oct. 10, and will feature Kristi Mercier, chief operating officer with ThunderRoad Financial, and Dan Onak, chief credit risk officer with FreedomRoad Financial.
The discussion will examine:
- Using alternative data and AI to improve underwriting and decisioning;
- Balancing originations growth and portfolio risk while maintaining desired loan-to-value and debt-to-income ratios; and
- Navigating normalizing credit performance.
Meet the panelists
Both Mercier and Onak have decades of experience in risk management, data and credit performance within the powersports industry.
Mercier, who joined ThunderRoad in 2014, has a background in portfolio management, fraud prevention, risk management and credit analysis, according to her LinkedIn profile.
Her previous roles include manager of operations and director of operations with ThunderRoad Financial, and credit analyst with Harley-Davidson Financial Services (HDFS), according to her profile.
Onak joined FreedomRoad in 2014, and has more than 20 years of credit risk management experience in the powersports industry. Before joining FreedomRoad, he served as a credit risk manager for HDFS, where he was responsible for credit risk initiatives regarding loan originations.
