The Federal Reserve approved a 50-basis-point interest rate reduction in September, but that may not be enough to move the needle on affordability. Credit access remains tight, new-vehicle supply still feels the pinch of production woes and the presidential election looms, bringing questions on what policy may look like in the coming year.

The executives will address these topics and more, offering insight on how auto lenders are navigating the market landscape and devising strategies for 2025 and beyond.

Meet the panelists:

Ian Anderson, group president at Westlake Financial, joined Westlake in 2005 as director of risk management and became senior vice president of production, business strategy and analytics in 2007. He assumed his current role in 2008. Anderson leads business strategy for Westlake Financial and its subsidiaries, including Westlake Portfolio Management, Westlake Direct and Western Funding.

Douglas Arrigo, chief financial officer at Chase Auto, began his career at JPMorgan Chase in 1997. He has served in a variety of finance roles across both corporate and investment banking and consumer and community banking divisions.

Erik Laney, CFO at Santander Consumer USA, joined Santander in 2014 and his roles have included treasurer, head of strategy and corporate development, and head of financial planning and analysis. Laney previously worked at JP Morgan’s investment bank in the Financial Institutions Coverage group as well as the Commercial Mortgage-Backed Securities Capital Markets group.

Mike Lavin, president at Consumer Portfolio Services, joined CPS in November 2001 as vice president of legal and was later appointed chief legal officer. He was promoted to his current role in January 2023. Lavin leads sales, originations, servicing, risk, systems, IT, human resources, legal and investor relations.
